TWO CHIPPER TREETOP CHIRPERS

You know the little birds" whose singing got drowned out in the April 2 post "That Singing's So Pretty"? Well, they're Japanese Finches, a little smaller than sparrows. I noticed and drew those playful little birds 2 years ago. Here are two of them.

"They looked to me like little round circles or dots with long tails, skipping on treetops. I used to call them "Noteys" until I went home and looked them up online to find out they were called Finches.

I don't think birds ever hang upside down on branches, even to play--I just felt like drawing a playful one doing it--call it artist's spring fever.

I was first depressed that I could not distinguish birds by hearing their calls, as naturist Gilbert White could, but a nearby small bird reminded me that was after years of studying them. He probably started out like me too: liking them all.

Yeah. God recognizes each of us but loves us all, after all.
