I WONDER IF THEY MISSED ME

It's the 19th, the day to go back to Iwatsuki, but I thot I'd load a few more reference photos before going home.

The first is probably one of my favorites. The baby grasshopper on top of a disintegrating dandelion flower--I didn't know how to draw white without using acrylic paint, so altho' I was thrilled to get this photo, I just did my best in composing the illustration for the previous post (June 22).

My second pic is of Pelle of the Pellucid Fly (July 22 post), This is another one in which the real thing was much, much prettier than what I could draw--but you can see it by seeing this photo. I only wish it showed you how big it was tho'. There is nothing in it to compare its size; but it was HUGE!

The last photo? I didn't have room for a drawing of a carp "flapping its wings" in the water "trying to learn to fly" in the story of "black carp" (Aug. 17 post), taken again this year at carp walk. Silly feller. He's at it again.

Hope you enjoyed the photos. I wonder if the critters at the park missed me at all or even noticed I was gone?

BRUSH PENS? THAT WAS FAST!

It's raining again--sigh. Do You want me to stay home and put up some other things on the blog, Lord?

Last year was the time I began experimenting with these brush pens, and I had to post some drawings with them, Altho' before brush pens, I'd been spending quite a bit of time drawing endless detail with colored pencil, I found I could work pretty quickly with these, and they gave me much brighter color than the pencils. Here are some of them:

Turtle bubbles, two carp...Basking mallard & reflections on pond surface...After dentist visit, promised romp at the park

Crow surveys field...Teal fly lands on red leaf atop black boulder

I asked Kinya yesterday to order some brush pen replacements online for me. I thot it would be at least a few days, but I guess the company branch just happened to be making deliveries, because the doorbell rang, and they were just delivered!

The only thing I know faster than that is when God answers before I call.

This feller seemed to want to know what I was doing, so. I let him see--I was sketching a red dragonfly!

Huh? Baby in Basket?

I just remembered a picture drawn 2 years ago and felt a need to post it.

It was of an Egyptian steer finding a basket floating in the reeds of the Nile. A frog has leaped up on its forehead, surprised at the gurgling coming from inside. A locust looks on as the basket passes by, and a fly and flea peer down at the baby's face in the floating bassinet.

Moses. Drawn out of the waters. The offspring of these animals will hear of him...and 80 years later help lead his people into freedom. I imagine they never guessed, by looking at that little baby in that basket in the water, what God was planning.

We can't tell what God is going to do by what it looks like at first. Maybe we should just be faithful in whatever it is we're supposed to do, no matter how humble it looks.
