GOD WANTED TO "DRAW" TOO

I kept thinking about the Golden Ringed Emperor dragonfly that stopped on my Buddhist friend, how I was right next to her but unable to take a picture in time.

I ended up looking up photos on the web of the specific dragonfly, of women in visors, of a hand holding a compact camera. Then I asked her to send me an image of the visor she wore that day--I wanted to sketch that moment.  With those references in hand, I made the drawing, but of course, since it is from memory, it is nowhere near accurate as sketching from the real thing. But that's not what God really wanted anyway--a good picture--I mean.

I'd given Takako several of the last few drawings because she was there when they were made so understood them. This last sketch actually pictured her--of course I'd give it to her again? Takako has heard me say God is my life. She feels God is an illusion. But when the artist--who claims an illusion to be her all--composes pictures that interest her, she keeps seeing her, and maybe one day will find Him her all as well.

Yes, God wanted that giant dragonfly to stop on Takako, not to prove the d-fly's agility; nor me to sketch it to prove my artistic ability; but so that HE could continue "drawing" her to Himself to give her His love.

えっ?!

Here are a few more in both languages--I wasn't sure if I'd posted it in English or not. The idea came to me when it started sprinkling as I was going home after finishing up my pool-walk exercise.

"Oh-oh; looks like rain," I said, and almost berated myself for forgetting to bring my umbrella. It would make absolutely no sense to any sparrows watching if they knew I'd paid money to get wet for a good while before that!

For too many, they stay mere fantasy

Today, since it was raining, I stayed home and finished up a drawing at the park pond I started yesterday--here 'tis. You can see by the scrap paper on the lower left of the photo I've been on a C. S. Lewis kick recently. The books on the lower right? My Bibles for the memory work I'm doing.

C.S. Lewis clearly meant to write of spiritual realities. The danger is to treat these books as mere imagination. The unregenerate can do nothing else. But the genuinely saved reader, when illumined to truth, should find his heart responding to God, not simply say, "Oh yeah, that was fun reading."

Woops; I got carried away again. I was supposed to just post my picture, wasn't I? I do this all the time...

I'll be back later...

I guess I can't blame it on the dragonfly.

At tonight's supper, after finishing coloring in the drawing I'd started at the park earlier in the day, I was so tired, I found myself falling asleep and almost choking on the meat!

ohhhhh...I wanted to post at least this, but I think I'd better go lie down for forty blinks--I'm about to go crazy.

Back. Hm; the kiddy playground in the back looks like something's coming out of the d-fly's tail! Oh--this red dragonfly was given the name "U. Ramon". He always seems to come greet me at the back gate, and in Japanese, "back gate" is "uramon".

It was a cool day yesterday, so I made one other sketch at the park, but that hasn't been completed yet. It was very basic, the merest outline. Mallard, turtle, d-fly, carp are all there. The kawasemi flew across the scene while I was sketching, but he's not pictured!
