BACK INTO CLEAR FOCUS

After 6 days with my sister Janice in Minneapolis, Minn, I went to Dearborn, Mich. to meet my missionary sister Joyce, where her friend has opened up her house to be her furlough home base.

One of my first days there, it got too hot to go out, so I stayed at home and sketched the scene from the patio. God sent me surprising treats of robins coming close by. I think the drawing was clearer until I tried to color darker colors with watercolor brush pen markers, and the lines got very blurry. I almost ruined the whole thing. But God brought cooler temperatures the next morning, enabling me to go shopping and pick up color pencils, at least partially salvaging the artwork by filling in some areas.

Sun. morning, we went to Inter-City Baptist Church, the place that had been our family's home church. Most of the older folk who knew my parents have gone to be with the Lord, but there are still a few around who were here when the church began as a handful of Christians meeting in a home, and my mother had been their first missionary...she'd been a single missionary, Kimiko Kaneshiro, and they saw God answer their prayers when my parents met and gave them three daughters: Joyce, June, and Janice.

Yes, human memories got blurred over the years, but Sun.'s visit brought God's working back into clear focus, letting us marvel at how God's goodness and mercy follows us all the days of our lives.
