DAY LILY

Iris remembers June got all excited when she saw one of the flowers in Sherri's garden.

"What's it's name?" she asked Sherri.

"The Day Lily. It's pretty common.".

June spoke of a special memory. When taking a walk after a rainy day, she saw a yellow flower in the reeds. It had been dry and probably ready to wilt UNTIL IT RAINED, but the water then seeped into its petals and gave it a robust glow it had probably forgotten about.

In a blog post about 15 years ago, June wrote:

"I know I have a tendency to make outlandish parallels, but please bear with me. This flower seemed to be whispering out hope for people of withering spirits, saying that God would renew beauty...and would probably do it through life's rains, not sunny days."

Would Sherri show June all the flowers across the street? I was glad when she asked her to come along on one of our walks there.

There, we saw a lot of retired missionaries' residences with their nice gardens and...oh! At first, a still, dry remains of a rope-like form lay in the grass, but moments later, June found a live creature slithering across the ground. Sherri, never mind the flowers; let's go home!

Right about this time, Stacey Asato, the owner of the home in Raleigh, E-mailed Janice, telling her a snake had been found in their house just after Joyce, June, and the two girls from Japan left--shivers!
