I didn't have my sketchbook, I realized several days ago, and I'd left my drawing utensils at home, but I HAD to draw what was in front of me. So I grabbed a notebook in my purse and scribbled in it with my ballpoint pen and decided to color it at home. It's not clear, but better'n nothing.
What was in front of me? Well, for starters, an army of men armed with telescopic lensed/machine gun-like photographic equipment "Kawasemi Hunters" were up on the Red Zig Zag Bridge aiming their equipment in the direction of the perch they'd seen their quarry go. That little bird had eluded them and flown out behind them onto a branch near where I was.
Crow, cormorant, pigeon, wagtail, and starling flew in the sky. The egret had come down to fish in the pond, where spot-billed mallards and carp swam. And I felt like a little boy on summer vacation to see a little turtle under the bridge!
See why I had to make a picture even without my drawing pad?
