Ukon Sango Bana
(Pachystachys Lutea)
There were pretty yellow flower spears growing in the flower bed next to the parking area under the Gushikawa Baptist Church sanctuary. Takashi Nishino's mother learned its name for me! Since it's colored the pretty yellow of bananas and the Japanese nickname for the flower sounds like "Coral Banana", that's what I decided to call it.
(By the way, this is NOT the real banana flower. It actually has nothing to do with the actual banana plant. Sorry. But you knew that, right?)
