Altho' I wanted to see Dad's last sermon, I doubted I could. He'd shared it with me in 2006, but it got lost in the quake. "The Value of One Soul.". He'd just talked with his flock, not really sermonized.
But a few months later, when I got back from my Stateside trip, we decided to move to Okinawa. And when we got down to the house there, I found the construction people had left the place in disarray.
A few days ago, I was cleaning up Daddy's study, where the biggest mess had been made. Over in the corner was a pile of things that had not been returned to their original places. There was a folder marked "Old Messages". I opened it.
One of the first sheets of paper it contained was a carefully typewritten message from 2006 titled, "The Value of One Soul" (!)
